Before I dive into my story, I just want to say how deeply grateful I am to be doing what I love every single day. At Meryann Spa, every guest is more than just a client – you’re a part of my journey and I treasure the personal connection we share. I remember each face, each story and the moments we spend together. That’s why no two facials are ever the same – because I tailor each treatment to fit you.

Now let me share a bit about my journey

From as far back as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by the natural beauty of skin.

In 2003, I decided to follow my dreams. I trained in Montreal to become a certified aesthetician, and by 2004, I opened my first skincare clinic. It was everything I dreamed of – helping people feel confident and cared for through a holistic approach to skin health. I’ve always believed that the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected, and nurturing all three is the key to true beauty.

A few years later, I moved to Ottawa to be closer to family and spent nearly a decade working at the renowned Aveda concept salons. In March 2016, I opened Meryann Spa, a space where my vision could truly come to life – a place where every guest feels cared for. Being recognized with the “Best Facial Service 2022” award by BestOttawa.ca was an honor, but what truly makes my day is seeing my guests leave the spa glowing, relaxed and renewed.

But for me, beauty is more than skin deep – it’s also about giving back. Every year, I organize a toy drive to support those in the Philippines. Seeing my clients and friends come together to support this mission means the world to me.

Passion Project

Growing up in a Third World country, making ends meet and having the basics was a real struggle. When I visit the Philippines, I collect clothes, books, and toys from my friends in Ottawa who want to help out. It’s not just for my family but for my whole village. The generosity of my friends in Ottawa is amazing—I even have to mail boxes ahead of time to make sure they get there before I do. Seeing people’s eyes light up when they receive gifts from Ottawa is pure joy! The feeling is indescribable.

The Philippines is quite a journey from here, so when I visit, I stay for about three weeks to a month. My schedule is jam-packed trying to catch up with all my friends and family. While gifts are nice, what I really want to give is my time and attention. In Canada, we can treat ourselves to spa days—it’s something we deserve. But in the Philippines, that’s a luxury. I love giving facials and mani-pedis because it’s something many there can’t afford or experience otherwise.

Going home allows me to mix two of my passions Aesthetics and helping people in any little way I can. I’ve also tried bringing that spirit here by offering free treatments to the elderly and those who can’t afford it. Giving back brings me immense joy, and this is my way of doing it in the best way I know.
